ABOUT CAMP WOHELO

Please allow us to share with you a very unique, beautiful, and pristine place. Camp Wohelo, Alberta’s only all girl camp, was established in 1959 at Pigeon Lake, 45 minutes SW of Edmonton AB. Beautiful heated log buildings, comprised of the main-lodge, 8 cabins, the craft cabin, leader’s cabin, cottage, and washhouse have been very well cared for over the years by volunteers. The lodge and the cottage are accessible for all, from strollers to wheelchairs. We are accepting donations of time and/or money to build ramps on the craft cabin, leaders cabin and some cabins.

Camp Wohelo is not a specific religious camp, we promote and lead by example the acceptance and respect for all spiritual journeys, religions, and beliefs. We want to welcome as many people, from all walks of life, as possible.
Come and discover all that Camp Wohelo has to offer as a Rental Facility. The lake can be explored by canoeing, swimming, and by fishing. The grounds, trails, and paths can be skied, snow-shoed, and hiked. Gather around the large outdoor fire, with new benches – winter or summer – for sing–a-longs and the sharing of campfire foods. We even have an awesome cookbook with traditional camping recipes to share. The outdoor sanctuary welcomes you to sit in snowy beauty, or sun laced shadows, to gather together, or to reflect on your own. The revenue from renting Camp Wohelo helps us to provide the summer programs, including maintenance, well paid staff, great food, and especially camperships for needy families.

Camp Wohelo has – and keeps – a promise that “no camper be turned away” because of their family’s financial situation. Every year more and more people ask for help to get their kids enrolled at Camp Wohelo.

In the summer, Camp Wohelo has programs for girls, women, and families. The unique Mom & Co-ed Kids camps are an opportunity for Moms (and/or female caregivers) and children to experience camp together. The Teen Leadership Camp is for girls grade 7+ to discover and build their leadership skills. Family Camp is an inclusive camp for all families of all configurations. The fun-filled All Girls Camps are for girls, grades 3-9. The campers do such things as: archery, canoeing, arts & crafts, sings songs around the campfire, build self-esteem and independence, and make lifelong friendships.
Many studies show that people are experiencing “nature deficit disorder”. It affects us all greatly, especially children. We invite you to come to Camp Wohelo and spend some time with Mother Nature!
Renting Camp Wohelo is one way to support the summer programs. Other ways are to donate and receive a tax receipt, and/or to volunteer. There are many opportunities to volunteer: at the camp during the summer, at the camp helping with upkeep, and/or joining the Board. We need dynamic, experienced and knowledgeable Board and Team members to complete our small retiring group of dedicated individuals. There are always projects, big and small!

We welcome you to please visit campwohelo.com or to email or call us for more information. We would be happy to get together with you to discuss how we can work together.
